When the first version of the circuit in the Highway was released in the mid 60’s, it was met with great excitement as a well-built, reliable alternative on the British amp market. They were touted to be great sounding amps with a big, punchy tone and a lot of headroom. This was a different than other options on the market that were known to break up early.

While many famous guitar players used this type of amp from the late 60s onward, one in particular asked for some modifications to it. Oddly enough, those requested modifications where to give the amp more distortion in the preamp – similar to the other British amps on the market. His requests were obliged, but it was done in keeping with the platform foundation of the original circuit. So the tone stayed unique, it stayed punchy and it stayed big.

The SonicTone Highway JP is the representation of those modifications to the original circuit. But, it has been done in a more modern way to give the player a set of more unique and useful features. The amp has a true independent clean channel, as well as the original modded dirty channel - plus a little more "gas in the tank" - all while adhering to the unique sound of the circuit. In addition, other features have been added such as an FX loop and a preamp level control, which lets you set how clean or hard the preamp is driven.

The SonicTone Highway JP pays homage to a cherished rock tone from the early 70s that not only sold millions of records but launched thousands of guitar players.

Recommended Speaker Pairing: Celestion 25-watt Greenbacks for accentuated overdrive, or 60-watt Vintage 30s for a more well-rounded sound.
